Aetna Reports Results for 3rd Quarter 2017
Aetna reported growth in the Medicare Supplement market in 3rd quarter 2017 that was lower than any quarter since 1st quarter 2012. For 3rd quarter 2017, Aetna reported Medicare Supplement member in-force counts of 733,000, up 9,000 from 1st quarter 2017 and 66,000 over the past 12 months. The 9,000 increase in membership during 3rd quarter 2017 was 70% lower than the membership growth in 3rd quarter 2016. Humana’s Reports Medicare Supplement Results for 3rd Quarter 2017
Humana reported 2nd quarter 2017 Medicare Supplement lives of 234,900, a 1% increase over 2nd quarter 2017 and an 8% increase over 3rd quarter 2016. The table below shows Humana’s Medicare Supplement enrollment counts by quarter since 1st quarter 2011. Humana also reported 3rd quarter 2017 Medicare Supplement premiums of $121 million, up 11% from 3rd quarter 2016. Torchmark Reports Medicare Supplement Sales in 3rd Quarter 2017
Torchmark reported 3rd quarter 2017 Medicare Supplement annualized new sales of $10.1 million, down 27% from 2rd quarter 2017 and 7% from 3rd quarter 2016. The $10.1 million of sales during 3rd quarter 2017 is Torchmark’s lowest Medicare Supplement quarterly sales result since 2nd quarter 2014. Torchmark’s annualized new business sales over the past 12 months totaled $62.4 million, ranking in the top 10 in the overall Medicare Supplement market.
CNO Financial Group Reports Medicare Supplement Sales in 3rd Quarter 2017
CNO Financial Group (parent company of Bankers Life & Casualty, Washington National, and Colonial Penn) reported 3rd quarter 2017 Medicare Supplement sales of $14.4 million, down 6% from 2nd quarter 2017 and 9% from 3rd quarter 2016. The $14.4 million of sales during 3rd quarter 2017 is CNO’s lowest Medicare Supplement quarterly sales result in the past 12 years. For the past 12 months CNO Financial Group reported Medicare Supplement sales of $71.4, ranking in the top 8 in the Medicare Supplement market. CNO Financial Group also reported 3rd quarter 2017 Medicare Supplement earned premiums of $208 million, even with 2nd quarter 2017 and down $1 million from 3rd quarter 2016.
